Murphy construction team has ability to work on tight timelines and with a direct relationship of entire design and production team, it can deliver faster and higher quality work.
Second level enabled variety of spatial experiences above and below the structure that were designed to compliment the tent and take advantage of its height.
On top of the Pier 40 Murphy built a 3 story studio for The Dan Patrick Show. The studio held a basketball court on the second floor and fully functional television and radio studio on the first. Large glass doors behind the TV hosts provided breathtaking views of the lower Manhattan skyline in the background.
The challenging build included laying 112,000 Sq Ft of speciality matting to spread the load of the equipment and temporary structure. In addition, the site required shoring of 110,000 Sq Ft below the 3 story studio in order to support the build.
Custom roof peak was designed to bear the load of snow — 20 pounds per square foot.
Rigmat, the floor panels of steel and timber, enabled us to fully protect the grass field and ballast the entire tent.
Two spiral staircases were custom rolled in Chicago and welded together on site in New York.
Two grand spiral staircases added a dynamic twist to the holistic design. They accentuated the central area across the stage and marked the threshold to the exclusive area on the second level.
Installation begins on the Murphy designed specialty roof truss capable of creating a 226' wide clear span tent structure.
While the construction Murphy construction team had to face with a record rainfall of the season, which turned the site into a swamp.
Durable facade panels of steel and timber are designed to reinforce the tent truss structure replacing cable x - bracing, and therefore enabling large doorways.
